The Santa Fe Art Institute (SFAI) promotes art as a positive social force through residencies, lectures, studio workshops, exhibitions, community art actions, and educational outreach. Founded in 1985, SFAI is an independent nonprofit arts center presenting the work of some of the most interesting and leading innovators in the arts, with a host of visiting artists who participate in year-round thematic programming. Each visiting artist engages the public by providing a lecture, facilitating a studio workshop, and exhibiting work. The SFAI enlivens local discourse by addressing issues of social justice, cultural freedom and environmental responsibility.
